Basil‑Lime Mezcal Mojito with Worm Salt with Don Catrin worm salt rim and bottle

Basil-Lime Mezcal Mojito with Worm Salt

Basil-Lime Mezcal Mojito with Worm Salt

From Oaxaca to your glass — a Don Catrin recipe.

Story

A mojito is usually bright and minty — basil gives it a more aromatic, savory edge.

Mezcal brings smoke, and worm salt frames the herbs beautifully.

Fresh, green, and surprisingly complex.

Yield: 1 cocktail   |   Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz mezcal
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave nectar
  • 6–8 basil leaves
  • 2 oz sparkling water
  • Worm salt (for rim)
  • Ice

Method

  1. Rim a tall glass with worm salt and fill with ice.
  2. Gently muddle basil with lime and agave in a shaker.
  3. Add mezcal, shake briefly, and strain into the glass. Top with sparkling water.

To Serve

Garnish with basil sprig and lime wheel.

Notes & Variations

  • Add mint for a brighter finish.

Ritual

Smell the basil first, then sip — the salt makes the herbs linger.
