Charred Orange Mezcal Sidecar with Worm Salt
From Oaxaca to your glass — a Don Catrin recipe.
Story
The sidecar is citrus and spirit in perfect balance. Charred orange gives it deeper sweetness and a hint of smoke.
Mezcal amplifies that smoke, and worm salt brings everything into focus.
A classic with a fire-lit twist.
Yield: 1 cocktail | Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 oz mezcal
- 3/4 oz orange liqueur
- 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
- Charred orange wedge
- Worm salt (for rim)
- Ice
Method
- Rim a coupe with worm salt.
- Shake mezcal, orange liqueur, and lime with ice.
- Strain into the prepared glass.
To Serve
Garnish with a charred orange peel.
Notes & Variations
- Use lemon instead of lime for a brighter finish.
Ritual
Take a sip and then taste the charred orange. The salt connects both.
