Prickly Pear Mezcal Margarita with Worm Salt

Story
Prickly pear tastes like desert fruit and late sunsets. Mezcal gives it a smoky echo, and worm salt adds a grounded edge.
This margarita is vibrant, but never sweet in a simple way — it’s layered and a little mysterious.
A drink for celebration, or for making a regular night feel special.
Yield: 1 cocktail | Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 oz mezcal
- 1 oz prickly pear puree or syrup
- 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz orange liqueur
- Worm salt (for rim)
- Ice
Method
- Rim a rocks glass with worm salt and fill with ice.
- Shake mezcal, prickly pear, lime, and orange liqueur with ice.
- Strain over ice into the prepared glass.
To Serve
Garnish with a lime wheel.
Notes & Variations
- Add a splash of grapefruit for more brightness.
