Mezcal + Ginger Tamarind Smash with Worm Salt
From Oaxaca to your glass — a Don Catrin recipe.
Story
Tamarind brings tartness; ginger brings fire; mezcal brings smoke. Together they make a drink that feels alive.
Worm salt ties the flavors into one rhythm — sweet, sour, spicy, smoky.
This is a smash for late nights and big conversations.
Yield: 1 cocktail | Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 oz mezcal
- 1 oz tamarind syrup
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 thin slices fresh ginger
- 1/2 oz agave nectar
- Worm salt (for rim)
- Ice
Method
- Muddle ginger with tamarind syrup in a shaker.
- Add mezcal, lime, agave, and ice; shake well.
- Rim a rocks glass with worm salt and strain over ice.
To Serve
Garnish with a thin ginger slice.
Notes & Variations
- Add a splash of soda water for a lighter finish.
Ritual
Let the ginger hit first, then the tamarind, then the mezcal. The salt keeps it balanced.
